One of the Four Pillars of the Green Party is Social Justice.

Social justice is the equitable distribution of social and natural resources to meet basic human needs, and to ensure that all people have the full opportunity for personal and social development.

In the area of Criminal Justice, the Green Party supports reducing the prison population, investing in rehabilitation, and ending the failed war on drugs. The war on drugs has been an ill conceived program that has directed billions of dollars away from apprehending and prosecuting violent criminals, while crowding our prisons with non-violent drug offenders and disproportionately ...

Tell Your Senator to End the Drug War!

Senate Bill 425 proposes a one cent per milligram fee on the sale of opioids, excluding treatment uses with rebates for cancer and hospice patients. Increased revenue will be used exclusively through the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant program.  

This bill represents a small step in properly funding treatment programs and a move towards treatment rather than enforcement.
